Topos is a greek word that means place. As a publisher we want to mobilize concepts of place through the book format. We believe that artist books have a potential to enter a discourse of place in a time when it is becoming more than a location on a map or in a landscape, but rather a term linked with identity, form and presence. The artists perspectives might then be understood as a place in itself or the artist book as a place or medium for artistic ideas or concepts. Topos Bokforlag is a freshly started (2017) publication initiative based in Bergen and Oslo. We emphasize emerging artists with an investigational approach. Topos consist of Åsne Eldøy and Arild Våge Berge, both working visual artists Topos is run as a non profit organization aiming to share and distribute artistic work between places, images and ideas.

Per Jonas Lindström
I’m an artist who’s been working with artist books close to 30 years. But it’s only the latest couple of years it has developed to be in the main focus of my art practice. I do artist book workshop as a method to develop new ideas and a way to get closer to my intuition. There is no plan, nor clear goal, no meaning except when glimpse of divine normality arrives, and fish starts swimming around. I start often in the middle of the book working in both directions. It`s all about trusting my artistic touch/knowhow and the art of luck. Mostly my books are without text, manly with colors, cutouts, collages, holes, and above all, obscure histories in diverse directions. Normally I allways make unique books, until this year. 2018 I`ve started to “mass produce” a chosen group of books from my earlier years. Though it`s still hand made. In an addition I also invite other artists to develop ideas and create artists book in a symbiotic atmosphere. Some of them I will present at the fair.
